Job Description:
Performs highly technical engineering functions that comprise
the largest majority of the engineering work at both sites. Work
may include components of Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Nuclear,
Chemical, Structural, Systems, and Design engineering work and
expertise. These components will be leveraged to develop complex
work through cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering
problems encountered throughout the sites.
The Destructive/Non-Destructive Analyst position is a mechanical
engineer position in the Explosive Technology Division with
responsibility for assigned systems in the High Explosive and
Materials Testing section. The candidate will be responsible for
designing, analyzing, developing high quality detailed design
packages related to test fire activities, mechanical properties
testing, and other areas in support of weapons
production/surveillance activities for critical mission
deliverables. The candidate will also be responsible for
interpreting and communicating design and production agency
requirements to ensure that conformance to customer technical
requirements and expectations are met, writing specification
documents and subsequent follow-up to ensure proper testing is
performed. Represents the Explosive Technology organization as a
technical contact for activities involving the qualification,
surveillance, and disposition of energetic materials and components
on Production Operations. Interacts with internal/external
personnel on advanced technical matters often requiring
coordination between organizations or the design agencies. The
mechanical engineer will provide management with scheduled project
updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on testing activities
ensuring that a feedback loop is maintained to communicate answers
to issues, concerns, and lesson learned in accordance with
Integrated Safety Management (ISM) principles.

Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering/science discipline: Minimum 2
years of relevant experience
OR Master's degree in engineering/science discipline
Preferred Job Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an Engineering
Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board for Engineering
and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or
designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington
Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by
ABET.
Extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of related
engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of
engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering
application of computers
Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria
pertinent to various engineering disciplines
Requires the ability to apply technical skills of engineering to
the design, safety, and operation of facilities and/or processes
within facilities; ability to prepare, read, and/or interpret
complex engineering drawings and analysis; ability to conduct
formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested
parties; ability to review projects for technical accuracy; ability
to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and
written word
Demonstrated technical capabilities, leadership, and work ethic
Ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well
with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be
considered regardless of their current clearance status. The
ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance
is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and
participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is
required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope
polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may
apply.
