Accounts Payable Manager

Job Description:

The A/P Manager will manage the daily operations and strategic objectives of the accounts payable cycle through design, implementation, maintenance and management of all accounts payable business functions and procedures.Responsibilities:

  • Oversee customer payables and remittance processing
  • Properly recording cash outflows, management of outstanding payables, and direct interfacing with customers on payable matters and dispute resolution
  • Provide timely and accurate payment and account standing information
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure the correct amounts have been recorded as a result of the payment processes
  • Assure timely and accurate remittance processing, through management of department approvals
  • Make recommendations to improve the quality of payment and remittance processing procedures and activities;
  • Produces weekly and monthly reports of payments and cash outflows made, liabilities to be cleared, and vendor disputes
  • Manages and administers vendor files including vendor set-up and changes
  • Ensures internal controls are met to prevent payment and remittance fraud
  • Assists in IRS compliance through 1099 processing 941/945 withholdings and other applicable regulations
  • Manage and provide system administration for technology and software associated with the accounts payable, remittance processing and cash outflow functions
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document accounts payable processes and procedures, making use of current computer technologyRequirements:
    • Knowledge of and adherence to:
      • Economic and accounting principles
      • Financial administrative rules and procedures
      • Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
      • FASB Accounting Standards
      • Auditing principles, practices, rules and regulations
        • Manages all aspects of complex financial projects from inception to conclusion
        • Previous experience maintaining financial systems with multiple reporting dimensions
        • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
        • Provide strong and credible leadership to staff, setting a unified direction for the team and ensuring priorities are clear at all times
        • Provide thought leadership to cultivate a high performing department and customer centric culture
        • Train, develop and motivate the team in skills, quality control methodologies, and accounting knowledge, teamwork, time management, and competitive knowledge
        • Be accurate, concise, and be able to communicate clearly and efficiently
        • Be customer-service oriented in manner and practice
        • Supervise staff within the accounts payable operation and functionEducation and Experience:
          • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
          • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft GP
          • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration
          • 3+ years of direct experienceExperiencePreferred
            • 3 year(s): Accounts PayableEducationPreferred
              • Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field
