Location AMARILLO, TX 79106 US (Primary) Career Area Nursing Category Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Unit Based Educator is responsible for assisting with the onboarding new hires onto the unit as well as the continued necessary education provided to staff on the unit throughout the year. Such responsibilities encompass assigning preceptors to new hires and overseeing the onboarding process relative to orientation packets and pathways as well as coordinating orientation progress meetings with new hires, preceptors and nursing leadership. Unit based educators also play a key role in annual competency validation on all units and assisting to ensure the educational foundation is consistent with successful onboarding and regulatory requirements. Unit based educators also supports an organizational culture for safety and Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups. Maintain accountability for overall processes affecting unit functioning by demonstrating improvement in at least one process or outcome annually with supportive documentation. Maintains regulatory compliance as related to The Joint Commission, Texas Department of State Health Services, and the Board of Nursing. Assures implementation and evaluation of new and/or enhanced services. Utilizes clinical and leadership experience and expertise to facilitate, measure, evaluate, and interpret care needs of patients and performance of staff, to achieve the highest quality of care to patients served. Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas BSN required OR national certification in nursing specialty within one year of becoming a unit-based educator. Three years similar nursing experience, education experience preferred. Physical and Sensory Requirements: Ability to read and write in English. Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and others. Ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to respond to pages. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions. Bending, lifting (25 lbs. minimum), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling. Ability to understand and interpret financial data. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions. Able to identify appropriate data and interprets its significance to clinical and operational activities.
