Responsibilities Under the direction and authorization of the
medical director and cardiopulmonary director, is responsible for
performing respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic
procedures as ordered by the physician. Emphasis will be toward the
assessment, planning, implementation and documentation of care,
with consideration of age and population specific needs and
requirements of the patient. In the absence of a supervisor, may be
assigned/identified as Lead RCP, having responsibility for the
section or department during their shift. Uses ultrasound to
visualize internal cardiac structures, obtain measurements of
cardiac valves, ventricle and left atrium and visualize blood flow.
Assists the physician with complex ultrasound procedures. Promotes
the smooth and efficient operation of the Cardiopulmonary
Department through the appropriate utilization and management of
all clerical functions within the department document handling and
disposition, interpersonal relationships and information gathering
Qualifications Education and Work Experience
State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required.
Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
English language fluency (written and verbal).
Registered Respiratory Therapist certification from the National
Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
2 years experience as an RCP required.
ACLS certificate within upon hire and maintain current.
NRP certificate within 3 months of hire and maintain current.
PALS certificate within 3 months of hire and maintain current.
Completion of Echocardiogram program or equivalent training
Able to assist physician with TEE testing required.
Previous experience in performing Echocardiograms of all ages
Hospital experience in the Cardiology field preferred.
Registered Echocardiographer in CCI or ARDMS required.
