BSA Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) PICU -
Pediatric Intensive Care for a nursing job in Amarillo, Texas.Job
Description & Requirements
Overview--BSA Health System is an extensive hospital system
providing clinical excellence to the Texas Panhandle and the
tri-state area. BSA is acclaimed for its superior quality and
customer service.--Pediatrics is a 19-bed unit, PICU is a 5-bed
unit both expertly caring for newborn to 18-year old patients in a
family type atmosphere where the staff pride themselves on great
teamwork.-- Pediatrics strives to maintain a 1:4 nurse to patient
ratio and 1:8 for PCT's. Summertime is an opportunity for extra
time off or float to other units, winter months Pedi census is
usually steady.-- Along with our Converse tennis shoe wearing
mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe, the unit is supported by a team
consisting of the unit secretary, Patient Care Technicians,
Transporters, Nutrition Ambassadors, RN's, RN Shift Supervisor, a
Clinical Educator, and the Director working as a cohesive team to
ensure excellent patient care.-- ResponsibilitiesThe Registered
Nurse is accountable for the health status and health needs of
their patients based upon interpretation of health data and
preventative health practices in collaboration with the patients
and the interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
QualificationsLicenses and Certifications:Current Texas RN license
or eligible for issue of Texas GN PermitCPR certified from American
Heart Association or American Red Cross requiredPALS certification
required within 6-months of hireAPHON certification desired within
6-months of
hire--Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Previous bedside
nursing experience desired; Pediatrics or PICU experience
preferredChemotherapy certified or willingness to become certified
Assess (acutely and chronically ill children), plan, evaluates,
documents total nursing processOrganized, self-motivated with
exceptional follow-through skillsComputer skills necessary 40wpm;
EMR EPIC documentationMulti-task constantly and tolerate multiple
interruptionsClear and effective communication with pedi patients,
families, and other healthcare professionalsAbility to connect and
communicate with childrenCompassionate customer service
skillsCommitted to patient and family satisfaction
