Registered Nurse - Community Living Center - EDRP - Amarillo,

Duties
ANNOUNCEMENT EXTENDED UNTIL 03/31/2023
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT & will remain open until
December 30,2022, or until all positions are filled. The first
cut-off date is May26, 2022. Eligible applications received after
that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional
vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are
filled.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Patient-care duties as specifically outlined in the Community
Living Center (CLC) Rn Orientation Checklist. Including but not
limited to equipment, procedures, resident care needs and CLC unit
work flow in order to provide care to the residents.
- Verbalizes and demonstrates understanding of the long sheet and
importance of daily utilization of the form.
- Use appropriate customer service guidelines as listed in the
orientation check-off packet. Including, but not limited to CLC
Veteran-Centered Care, resident preferences, and Cultural
Transformation.
- Working knowledge of shower/tub room processes in order to
delegate duties. Understands resident preferences and
respect/dignity in the implementing those preferences.
- Maintain a working knowledge of each neighborhood on unit,
processes, and residents. Proper process of entering and exiting
rooms. Assist other staff as necessary to ensure proper
care.
- Understanding and use of nurse call system, answering
alarm/phone appropriately, responding promptly to resident
situation.
- Understanding of Wanderguard system process, policy, and prompt
response to alarm.
- Ability to utilize VA computers and programs in order to
complete CLC RN duties, enter leave as required, and access work
schedule. Documents accurately and in a timely manner.
- Completes all mandatory and other training including, not
limited to Talent Management System (TMS), orientation, in-service,
Interdisciplinary Care Plan meetings as assigned, annual
competencies, and staff meetings.
- Understands, participates, and ensures completion of Purposeful
Rounding in assigned neighborhood to ensure resident
safety.
- Understands that the CLC is a restrain-free environment.
Verbalizes and understands what is considered a restraint.
- Understands, verbalizes, adheres to, and documents Fall
Prevention guidelines, interventions, policies, and
protocols.
- Demonstrates understanding regarding the pain scale, asking
residents about their pain level, performing non-pharmacological
measures to alleviate pain. Reports pain level concerns to charge
nurse or provider.
- Demonstrates proper use of safety and lift equipment. Ensures
the safety of residents and staff. Participates as assigned in fire
safety, emergent needs, and environmental safety as described in
orientation validation paperwork.
- Completes new admission package and document within eight hours
of resident arrival following the admission checklist.
- Verbalizes and demonstrates understanding of skin breakdown,
pressure injury preventative measures, and notifying charge nurse
of new/worsening areas of redness, skin breakdown, and
concerns.
- Complete all assessments and document as required.
- Complete wound care treatment as ordered by physician.
Including documentation and assessment for preventative wound care
treatment.
- Administer medication, complete D-sticks, and other orders
required, as ordered by providers.
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and PRN documentation as
required in an accurate and timely manner. See orientation
checklist for specifics.
- Serve in the CLC Charge position. See charge nurse duties on
the orientation checklist sheet. Working with staff to ensure
appropriate work flow.
- Use appropriate infection control measures as listed in the
orientation check-off packet.
