Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations policies and procedures concerning health and safety through education, training and auditing. Accountable for administering the safety program, with policy and procedural approvals, with primary emphasis on implementing, managing and recommending improvements of the safety program for optimum results. Provide operations safety support on projects as requested by Region Offices.

--- Conducts OSHA compliance audits and safety field audits for assigned projects (safe work permit, lockout/tag out, fall protection, etc.).
--- Conducts VPP field Hazard Recognition Audits.
--- Provides technical assistance to regional and engineering personnel on safety and fire protection issues.
--- Maintains safety training records as needed.
--- Participates in emergency response activities.
--- Provides guidance and/or assistance in surveying, investigating and purchasing safety equipment; may order emergency equipment (i.e., bunker gear, hose, air packs, etc).
--- Implements the overall safety program in a manner that will improve all employee participation in achieving more conscientious control of all safety/health related work activities.
--- Organizes, reviews and improves contributions of supervisory, operations, maintenance, fire protection, liability protection, and safety training to ensure a balanced program effort.
--- Works with Operations to implement new or revised safety policies, procedures, manuals, and related written safety/health materials and communications.
--- Works with all on-site personnel to solve and implement corrections of safety problems and to improve safety effectiveness.
--- Assists contractors with safety during turnarounds and plant expansion programs.
--- Conducts or assists with incident, injury and loss reporting.
--- Ensures compliance with all applicable governmental and industry safety standards.
--- Attends training sessions relative to safety at various universities and training facilities.
--- Conducts training on new or revised corporate policies and/or procedures.Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in related field required; specialization in Safety or related Science preferred; equivalent related experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• Industrial fire training school certification, Emergency Response training, and incident command training preferred
• Additional specialized or technical courses and/or training preferred
• Five years of safety experience required. Experience in pipelines, terminals and refineries preferred.
• Working knowledge and experience with VPP (Volunteer Protection Plan) highly preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal interaction skills.
• High awareness of time management and organizational skills.
• Exhibit flexibility and ability to work in a team environment.
• 70% expected travel
• Must be able to be on call as needed
  
  This position will require an individual to hold a valid drivers license.
  
  When a higher-level position exists candidates with greater qualifications may be considered for the position.
