Overview Registered Nurse RN, General Medical 5AB, PRN, Nights
BSA Health System is an extensive hospital system providing
clinical excellence to the Texas Panhandle and the tri-state area.
BSA is acclaimed for its superior quality and customer service. The
General Medical 5A/B floor is a 45-bed unit consisting of general
medical patients with a mix of Cardio IMCU and Med-Surg overflow.
The routine patient to nurse ratio fluctuates with patient census;
unit goal is 5 to 1 ratio. The unit is supported by a team
consisting of the unit secretary, Patient Care Technicians,
Transporters, Nutrition Ambassadors, RN's, LVN's, RN Shift
Supervisor, a Clinical Educator, a Manager and the Director working
as a cohesive team to ensure excellent patient care. General
Medical is a well supported medical surgical unit where you will
gain top notch head to toe assessment skills, hone your

Responsibilities The Registered Nurse is accountable for the health
status and health needs of their patients based upon interpretation
of health data and preventative health practices in collaboration
with the patients and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
members. Job Duties: Record patients' medical information and vital
signs. Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for
reactions or side effects. Maintain accurate, detailed reports and
records. Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in
patients' conditions. Consult and coordinate with healthcare team
members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or
supervise a particular unit. Monitor all aspects of patient care,
including diet and physical activity. Instruct individuals,
families, or other groups on topics such as health education,
disease prevention, or childbirth and develop health improvement
programs. Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients'
responses and conditions. Conduct specified laboratory tests.
Observe nurses and visit patients to ensure proper nursing care.
Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and
assess patient's condition Qualifications Licenses and
Certifications: Current Texas RN license or GN Permit CPR certified
from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Previous nurse tech or
staff nursing experience EKG experience preferred Assess, plan,
evaluates, documents total nursing process Organized,
self-motivated with exceptional follow-through skills Computer
skills necessary; EMR EPIC documentation Multi-task constantly and
tolerate multiple interruptions Clear and effective communication
with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
Compassionate customer service skills Committed to patient and
family satisfaction
