Physician Assistant | Surgery - Trauma Location: Amarillo, TX Employer: AAS Locum Tenens Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: 3 days x 12 hours Start Date: ASAP About the Position We are seeking experienced Per Diem Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join a Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (ACS) program in Amarillo, TX. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a Level II Trauma Center managing a diverse and high-acuity patient population within a collaborative, team-based environment. Practice Setting 495-bed acute care hospital Level II Trauma Center Dedicated Trauma & ACS service On-site clinic space Schedule Per Diem / As-Needed Coverage 12-hour shifts Flexible scheduling based on availability and program needs Key Responsibilities Evaluate and manage trauma and ACS patients across ED, inpatient, and ICU settings Assist with procedures and perioperative care Participate in consults, admissions, and daily rounding Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams Support discharge planning and care coordination Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation Qualifications Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Active Texas license (or ability to obtain) Experience in trauma, surgery, ICU, or emergency medicine preferred Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills Ability to manage high-acuity patients in a fast-paced environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive per diem / shift-based compensation Malpractice coverage available Opportunity for ongoing shifts and consistent coverage Amarillo offers a welcoming community with a low cost of living and access to outdoor attractions like Palo Duro Canyon.
