POSITION SUMMARY:?The?Charge?Nurse?(CN)?functions under?the supervision of?the?Director.?The?Charge Nurse?(CN) assures provision of care?to an?assigned patient population?in a professional?manner, utilizing?the?nursing process and?the principles ?of ?continuous? quality ?improvement ?in ?collaboration ?with ?other ?health ?team??members.??The ?Charge Nurse?(CN) ?is?responsible?for?management?of staff, physicians, and patients?for a?designated unit.?Supports an?organizational culture?for Service Excellence and practices?the Service Excellence?Standards?to?all?customer?groups? Develops,?implements, and evaluates an age-appropriate plan of care utilizing?the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education. Maintains professional behavior?when dealing?with?issues or conflicts, utilizing appropriate?resources,?as needed. Provides an environment conducive?to safety?for patients,?families, ?visitors, ?and ?employees.??The ?RN ?will ?assess??risks ?to ?patient ?safety? and ?implement ?the appropriate precautions.?The?Charge Nurse?(CN)?will?comply?with appropriate and?approved standards, as outlined by?the organization and accrediting agencies.?The?Charge Nurse?(CN)?will comply?with safety and?injury prevention?standards?to?minimize?risk?to self, co-workers, patients,?and?visitors.? ?The concepts?of?the patient centered?care delivery?model?will?provide?the?foundation?for all nursing care. The?Charge Nurse?(CN) functions under the supervision of the Supervisor ? Medical / Surgical Services. The?Charge Nurse?(CN)?assures provision of care to an assigned patient population in a professional manner, utilizing the nursing process and the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members. The?Charge Nurse?(CN)?is responsible for management of staff, physicians, and patients for a designated unit. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups. Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility. BLS (or obtained during orientation) and maintain certification throughout employment Current state nursing license or permit to practice nursing in the State of Texas. Pediatrics: PALS within 3 months of hire. Certification must be maintained throughout employment Chemotherapy class within 12 months of hire; repeat class every 2 years and maintain throughout employment Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: PALS within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment Chemotherapy class within 12 months of hire; repeat class every 2 years and maintain throughout employment Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: NRP within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment STABLE within 6 months of hire; repeat renewal class every 2 years until 10 years? experience.? Class may be taken anytime within the year of expiration.? 90% score on neonatal medication exam ? employees will have two chances to pass with remediation material available
