POSITION SUMMARY: The LVN functions under the supervision of the
Nurse Manager/Lead Nurse. The LVN assures provision of care to an
assigned patient population, utilizing the principles of
Performance Improvement in collaboration with other health team
members. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence
and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer
groups. KEY PERFORMANCE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: I.
PROVISION OF CARE - Implements and notes response to an
age-appropriate plan of care utilizing assigned components of the
Nursing Process, Clinical Skills, and Patient Education. Delegates
to unlicensed personnel in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
II. SAFETY - Provides an environment conducive to safety for
patients, visitors, and employees. Will report risks to patient
safety and implement the appropriate precautions. Will comply with
appropriate and approved standards. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY
REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to read and write in English 2. Ability to
communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support
agencies, vendors, and others 3. Ability to remain calm under
stress 4. Ability to respond to pages 5. Bending, lifting (25 lbs.
Minimum), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, pulling
repeatedly twisting, squatting and stooping. 6. Exposure to
infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals 7. Utilizes
correct technique to prevent needle stick.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
1. An LVN currently licensed by the State of Texas. 2. Must possess
current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon
hire and maintain certification throughout employment. 3.
Completion of an IV Therapy Course upon hire. 4. Minimum of one
year experience in hospital setting, prefer 2 years.
