Southern Pioneer Electric Company is seeking a professional individual for the position of GIS Specialist. Job responsibilities consist of the ability to read, interpret, and manipulate digital land data into a GIS digital mapping database. Successful applicant will have a high school diploma or equivalent. Interested candidate must have excellent interpersonal communication skills, a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, be self-motivated, enjoy public contact and ability to work with a variety of employees, contracted personnel, and consumers under differing circumstances. Experience in computer operations including spreadsheet and word processing required. Graphical Information Systems (GIS) Mapping, computer configuration and field surveying or equivalent is required. Use of Esri and ArcGIS software is highly desired. Working conditions include the majority of inside work with a possibility of outside work at times. Finalist will be required to successfully pass a post-offer physical examination, an alcohol-drug test and possess a valid Kansas driver's license. At time of employment, must reside within 20 minutes of the Southern Pioneer Electric office. This position has the possibility of residing in either the Liberal or Medicine Lodge office, depending on the candidate.
