Job Description:
The Quality Assurance Technician I is responsible for assuring
safe, quality products are within specification as dictated by
regulatory entities, customers, and internal needs. This position
runs all analysis on wheat and flour, documents results, and
reports any nonconformance to their supervisor. The QA Tech will
collect additional samples as needed and maintain the sample
library. This position participates in internal facility
inspections and assists the Lead QA Technician in various daily
duties as required. This is a 1st Shift position with the general
working hours of 7am - 3pm. QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN I
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepare and analyze all wheat and flour product samples
including the chemical testing of ingredients, mycotoxins, and
pesticide residuals; the physical analysis of moistures, ashes,
falling numbers (amylase activity in flour, sprout damage in
wheat), flour stability, pH and the visual observation of color and
sensory observation of odors.

- Assure that products are safe and conform to all regulatory,
internal and customer standards. Immediately reporting any
nonconformance and/or deviation to the Supervisor or QA
Manager.

- Prepare the product samples to be sent to third party
laboratory for additional testing.

- Assist in conducting investigations for customer complaints and
/ or product non-compliance.

- Practice and enforce GMP's, food safety principles, and
sanitation in the laboratory and throughout the facility.

- Assist the Lead QA Technician in preparation of Certificates of
Analysis and/or review certificates of analysis for product and
insure they are included with the outgoing loads.

- Sample management retention/filing and maintaining retained
samples.

- Tailing's inspection and documentation.
- - - -
- Work closely with production and PLW personnel to communicate
quality/food safety concerns.

- Assist Lead QA Technician to verify laboratory equipment
calibrations.

- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of
ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the QA
laboratory and food safety programs.
QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN I QUALIFICATIONS:

- High School Diploma with 1 year of experience in a food
processing environment.
- - - -
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- - - -
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- - - -
- On the job training is provided.
- - - -
- Safety training is required and provided by Panhandle Milling
in group settings, as well as computer-based training.
- - - -
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- - - -
- Available to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends, and shift
work may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

- This position requires physical efforts such as straining,
pulling, lifting, working, and standing and walking on concrete
floor.

- Exposure to elements such as noise, minable dust, cold and hot
temperatures.

- Extreme climate or climate variation.

- Heat up to 100 degrees and lows of 40 degrees.

- Changes of > 30 degrees within a shift.

- Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, especially
forklifts.
