Visit us online at: https://www.nwths.com/careers Position: Tech - Medical (ASCP/REG) POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Technical Coordinator, the Tech - Medical (ASCP/REG) assumes the responsibility for performing waived and non-waived complexity analysis of patient specimens for diagnostic purposes, and related procedures in the areas of assigned responsibility under the philosophy, policies and procedures established by the hospital and the Department of Laboratory Services. Such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning of the Department, but also the integration of the Department into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The Tech - Medical (ASCP/REG) supports an organizational culture of Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Practices the profession of clinical laboratory science in the area(s) of assigned responsibility according to accepted standards of practice as outlined by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), CLIA ’88, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and other regulatory agencies as appropriate, and according to the approved policies and procedures of the organization, department, and/or the laboratory Medical Director. Actively participates in the structure, review and revision of policies and procedures. Monitors quality control data and instrument maintenance. Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and performance improvement in areas of assign responsibility. Performs clinical laboratory procedures in any one or combination of specialty areas of the laboratory optimizing the efficiency and quality of pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical laboratory procedures. In lieu of Baccalaureate degree, employee may qualify with 15 years or more experience in a CLIA certified laboratory. Ability to understand the overall technology, operation, and troubleshooting of moderate and complex instrumentation (example: hospital and laboratory information systems, highly automated specimen processing and testing instrumentation) 13. Ability to perform mathematical operations quickly and accurately 14. Ability to understand and explain the theories of laboratory specimen processing 15. Ability to multi-task productively and accurately 16.
